Splash panels are a unique alternative to a traditional shower or tub enclosure. Europeans have used this design for sometime now. There are two basic designs for a splash panel, fixed and bi-fold. The fixed panel will be a single piece of glass with a clip or channel mounting it to the wall and tub/stall deck. This design is very simple and open. The other design is to have a panel hinged at the wall with another panel of hinged glass creating a bi-fold splash panel. The bi-fold allows for folding the glass out of the way for easy access to the controls. Due to the weight of the bi-fold, the wall mounting must be substantial.

One consideration for either the fixed panel or bi-fold splash panel is that the water will not be contained completely. Consideration should be made for the design and material in your bathroom.

Decorator glass lends itself well to the fixed splash panel design. Also acid etched glass provides a dramatic look for the splash panel especially in a full height application.
